Eight years ago, Roberto and Andres faced a pivotal moment when the previous owner decided to close Caño Negro to focus on his hunting lodge. As avid fishermen and lovers of this Amazonian paradise, they knew the true value of Caño Negro and its deep connection with the local community of Versalles. Driven by passion and a vision to preserve this natural gem, they took the reins to transform it into Bolivia's premier fishing lodge.
Caño Negro was born from a profound commitment to the environment and the people who call it home. Roberto and Andres saw not just a business opportunity but a chance to create something extraordinary. They embarked on a journey to build a sanctuary where guests could experience the untouched beauty of the Amazon.
Today, Caño Negro is recognized as one of South America's finest fishing lodges, offering world-class fishing programs, diverse wildlife, and exceptional hospitality.

About the Waters
We fish in Northeastern Bolivia's Beni region, starting our trips on the Negro River with a quick 30-minute sail. Most of our fishing occurs on the San Simon River, where we enjoy 50 miles of exclusive access. Occasionally, we venture into the majestic Itenez (Guapore) River along the Brazil-Bolivia border, a stunning area where we do not have exclusivity.
Versalles Community Partnership
It was an old rubber barrack 150 years ago, located 3 hours away from the lodge. We have a concession agreement for catch and release entrepreneurship, where we bring anglers from all over the world. We train and hire guides, drivers, cleaning staff, and kitchen staff on a rotating 25-day shift basis. The objective is to ensure that all families have equal opportunities to earn income from salaries, community royalties, and exclusive tips.
Our Team
Our team comprises local residents serving as guides, boat operators, and support staff in various capacities. We implement a 25-day rotation system to ensure equitable income opportunities for all families in the community. This strategy supports sustainable practices and economic development in Comunidad de Versalles, enhancing a beneficial relationship between the lodge and local residents
